Introducing The Pink Pergola

As I type this, I can’t help but smile as I watch my 14-month-old sleeping on the monitor set up in my room. Yes, he’s still in my room.

Like many moms, postpartum has ushered in an era of limitless choices and consequences.

Should my son still share our room? Even with the soft snoring of the dogs sleeping nearby? Even with the rustle of our bedsheets as my husband and I shift in our sleep at night?

I chose. My son, now a toddler, sleeps in his own space near us—in a Pack n’ Play…

Controversial, I know.

Truly, what isn’t controversial about this season of life?

As much as I’d love to be, I know I’m never going to be a perfect mother.

I’m never going to follow every rule that our society deems necessary. I will make mistakes. I will have incredible moments that I’m proud of, and moments that I may feel I could have handled with more grace.

Even still, I am growing—just like my child.

That’s the secret to life, isn’t it?

We never stop learning. We never stop growing. We continue to bloom, even after lapses where our petals wither and fall. We bloom again.

That’s what this blog, this website, this community embodies. We all deserve the grace to learn as we are grow into who we are meant to be, and you deserve someone to witness that.

To the mom reading this, The Pink Pergola is dedicated to you. It is a spot made for you.

In truth, this blog is going to be all over the place. I’m going to write about my favorite things, the things that make me shudder, and I’m likely going to rant and reminisce.

I hope that some things help. I hope some things don’t resonate for you (because you are having a better experience with sleep, for instance).

Most importantly, I hope you feel seen.

Keep growing with grace.

Love,

Brianna, Founder of The Pink Pergola
